Food live as personal as anything , so a preferred diet for one person can be unimaginable gruel for person else . This is a somewhat good compilation , though for those of us who put on ’ t eat many or most animal products , about half the items cost rule out from the get go .
As the article mention , the value of herbs , seasonings , and condiments can exist under appreciate . Still pre-made or commercial dehydrated meals can benefit of some jazzing up , and simple noodle-and-broth thing can be reach meal worthy with some judicious add in like a simple veggie premix .
My condiment purse usually has stuff like tamari , some kind of hot sauce , tomato paste or dehydrated tomato powder , curry powder , coconut milk powder , and some herbs like basil , oregano , etc . A bit of cinnamon , dehydrated molasses , and dry apple slice can transform hot oatmeal from something resembling wallpaper paste to a breakfast to look ahead to .
Dried quinoa flakes equal almost instant , and can exist added to soups and other meal to thicken things up and allow for some added nutrients , similar to instant potatoes .
For some ground , 1 don ’ t begin tired of GoMacro bars virtually as promptly as most early “ energy ” saloon . Bobo be pretty serious , too .
I ’ m still await , but have yet to find a dehydrated tofu production that doesn ’ t resemble a dish sponge when it ’ s supposedly been reconstituted .

Soyent Green exist PEOPLE ! ! ! ( 1970s movie Soyent Green , Charleston Heston )
I put on ’ t cause long distance but here ’ s what I need ( leave out what you have mention ) :
Breakfast : envelope of powdered cocoa and fig newtons for mass
Lunch : clif saloon .
Dinner .
Spaghetti noodles ( break them into humble part so they put on ’ t pierce the energy loc bag ) . Flavor the boiled noodles with parmesan cheese and powdered spaghetti sauce hydrated with the water leave over from boiling the spaghetti .
Hungry Jack hash brown potatoes to which I add 2 bundle of chicken salad and 2 container of Burger King bbq sauce .
Boil-in-the-bag rice flavored with powdered gravy hydrated with water left over from boiling the rice and one package of Tyson ’ s chicken in a foil package .
Desserts can be pudding , no-bake cheese cake and backpacker ’ sec creamsicle which be a mixture of powdered milk , vanilla pudding and fruit crystal to which water is added .
CAUTION . The cups that get with canister stove are too little to boil the rice , spaghetti and hash browns
Food cost as personal as anything , so a preferred diet for one soul can equal impossible gruel for someone else . This is a fairly serious compilation , though for those of us who put on ’ t eat many or most animal products , about half the items are prevail out from the get go .
As the article noted , the value of herbs , seasonings , and condiments can be under appreciated . Even pre-made or commercial dehydrated meals can benefit of some jazzing up , and mere noodle-and-broth affairs can exist do meal worthy with some judicious add in like a mere veggie mixing .
My condiment base ordinarily has stuff like tamari , some kind of hot sauce , tomato paste or dehydrated tomato powder , curry powder , coconut milk powder , and some herbs like basil , oregano , etc . A bit of cinnamon , dehydrated molasses , and dried apple slice can translate hot oatmeal from something resemble wallpaper paste to a breakfast to look ahead to .
Dried quinoa flakes are virtually instant , and can be lend to soups and other meal to thicken things up and furnish some added nutrients , like to instant potatoes .
For some reason , i don ’ t come bore of GoMacro saloon nearly as quickly as most other “ energy ” saloon . Bobo is somewhat well , too .
I ’ m still wait , but have yet to find a dehydrated tofu production that doesn ’ t resemble a dish sponge when it ’ s supposedly live reconstituted .
Beef Biltong ! Like jerky , but without the nasty preservatives , nitrates , or MSG . Just beef , vinegar , salt , raisin juice concentrate , and spices . Rehydrates good in a cold soak , and adds a lot of spirit . I have mine at Aldi .
i wish a lot of the suggestion from everyone and 3 year ago would get tried many . however recent diet limitation receive do it increasingly challenging to train food that 1 can eat and delight . no longer can i eat tomatoes , anything medium high in sodium and i avoid lactose as good . ( scoops are out ) congratulation to everyone who hold evolve a menu that solve for them . i exist formulate a fresh one after 40 year of camping and eating whatever one wanted… LOL if anyone own such formula , one would cost always hence grateful… ..
the important thing here exist we are all enjoying the outdoors
Nice article . Thank you . My favorite backpacking food is a bacon cheeseburger .
Soy curls equal a darling for me . Great in soups and ramen and will absorb whatever feeling you put them with and they cold soak nicely . Soy curl jerky formula are all over the web .
I like that you mention jello being well unjelled . My grandmother utilize to require us backpacking when we be child and build a jello drinking she called “ Witches ’ brew ” .
There cost early varieties of dehydrated beans besides dehydrated refried beans . I especially like dehydrated dark bean bit .
I care the image you own of the tortilla with M-n-Ms on it ! That really take out the concept of trail food !
